We custom manufacture enclosures and all of our products in 304 and 316 stainless steel, galvanized, aluminum, and carbon steel.

Enclosures in Stainless Steel

For durability, corrosion resistance, tensile and shear strength, stainless steel enclosures are a good choice.  Stainless steel retains its strength at high temperatures, which can be crucial in extreme environments. An additional plus of using stainless steel enclosures is stainless steel's long lasting attractive appearance, which can be great for enclosures in highly visible areas.

Stainless steel also has intrinsically hygienic advantages, making it the right choice for enclosures that might be used in clean room environments, in laboratories, and in pharmaceutical or food processing situations. Stainless steel enclosures do not require painting, anodizing or other surface treatments. Stainless steel enclosures are also a perfect choice for harsh and corrosive environments. And while stainless steel is initially more costly than other materials, its low maintenance needs and long life expectancy can make it the most cost-effective over the long run.

EMW can use the most common 304 stainless steel alloy, as well as the even tougher and more corrosion resistant 316 stainless steel alloy in the manufacture of our enclosures and other products.

Aside from cost, among the factors that might make stainless steel a less appropriate choice for your particular enclosures application is its relatively heavy weight.

Mild Carbon Steel Enclosures

Mild carbon steel can be a more economical choice for the manufacture of your enclosure, both because of its lower price as a material and the greater ease of fabricating mild steel. Another advantage of mild carbon steel is its ability to withstand stress and flexing without fracturing, which may be a factor in certain applications. On the other hand, mild steel will require regular maintenance to prevent corrosion and extend its life. A variety of painting and finishing options are available according to your preference.

EMW’s custom precision metal fabrication capabilities make us particularly well suited to manufacture custom stainless steel enclosures that perfectly fit your needs and are suited to the environment in which they will be used. Just about any size and shape of galvanized enclosure is within our capacity to manufacture.

EMW can custom configure your stainless steel enclosure, in terms of cutout patterns, doors, louvers, dampers, baffles, mounting options, benches, shelves, sub-panels, rails and just about any special requirement you may have.

In addition to stainless steel and mild carbon steel, we can manufacture enclosures, like all of our products, in galvanized and aluminum. A variety of finishing options are available where needed.

Mild and Stainless Steel Enclosures Formed to Fit Your Requirements

Our enclosures are created through a metal forming process (not through a metal extrusion process), which gives us the flexibility required to manufacture a unique enclosure product that fits the requirements of each customer’s application. EMW’s metal forming process also allows for the manufacture of a custom enclosure that meets close tolerances.

EMW is a full service metal fabricator offering a wide range of capabilities in the manufacture of custom stainless steel and carbon steel enclosures and a vast range of other products. These capabilities include:

  • CAD/CAM design and programming
  • Saw, torch, and plasma cutting
  • 12' press brakes up to 350 tons with CNC back gauging
  • CNC precision shearing up to 12 ft. in 1/4" carbon steel, 3/8" aluminum and 3/16" stainless steel
  • MIG and TIG welding of all alloys (GMAW, FCAW, GTAW certified welders and welding to ASME Sec. IX & AWS D1.1 code)
  • Water jet precision cutting with a 12'x12' working envelope and dual cutting heads
  • CNC punching up to 1/4" plate
  • Rolling up to 1/4" x 8' long

We have finishing options (powder coat or wet paint) available when needed. Although we are not paint experts by trade or claim to be, we do offer coating/application services through outside sources. All coating will be at the customer's request and specification. To ensure that our customers receive the proper coatings for their applications, we require the customer's approval on their specifications prior to coating. EMW does not make coating recommendations for any application. Essentially, you tell us the kind of coating or finish you need or prefer and we will make sure that coating or finish is applied properly.
