Economy Metal Works manufactures a vast range of enclosures, including custom NEMA indoor enclosures, for a wide variety of satisfied customers in the power generation, petrochemical, construction, and other industries. NEMA Enclosures

NEMA ratings define products in terms of safety, construction, tolerances, and many other characteristics. EMW is long experienced in manufacturing enclosures and housings of many kinds to a variety of NEMA ratings, for countless applications and for use in a wide range of environments.

Some commonly used NEMA enclosures that EMW can custom manufacture include:

• NEMA 1 - Indoor: Minimal protection, not typically used in industrial environments. Enclosures provide a degree of protection to personnel against incidental contact with the equipment enclosed within and to provide a degree of protection against falling dirt.
• NEMA 12 - Indoor: Dirt, dust, dripping liquid tight. Enclosures constructed (without knockouts) for indoor use to provide a degree of protection to personnel against incidental contact with the equipment enclosed within; to provide a degree of protection against falling dirt; against circulating dust, lint, fibers, and flying debris; and against dripping and light splashing of liquids.
• NEMA 4 - Outdoor: NEMA Enclosures constructed for either indoor or outdoor use to provide a degree of protection to personnel against incidental contact with the equipment enclosed within; to provide a degree of protection against falling dirt, rain, sleet, snow, windblown dust, splashing and hose-directed water; and that will not be damaged by the formation of ice on the exterior of the enclosure.
• NEMA 4X - Outdoor: NEMA Enclosures 4 plus corrosion resistance.
• NEMA 6 - Outdoor: NEMA Enclosures constructed for either indoor or outdoor use to provide a degree of protection to personnel against incidental contact with the equipment enclosed within; to provide a degree of protection against falling dirt; against hose-directed water and the entry of water during occasional temporary submersion at a limited depth; and that will not be damaged by the external formation of ice on the enclosure.

In addition to meeting a range of NEMA enclosure requirements, EMW can custom configure your enclosure, in terms of cutout patterns, shelves, louvers, dampers, benches, sub-panels, rails and just about any special requirement you may have. We manufacture our NEMA enclosures and housings, like all of our products, in mild carbon steel, stainless steel (304 and 316), galvanized steel and aluminum (series 3000, 5000 and 6000). A variety of finishing options are available when needed.

NEMA Enclosures Formed to Fit Your Requirements

Our NEMA enclosures are created through a metal forming process (not through a metal extrusion process), which gives us the flexibility required to manufacture a unique NEMA enclosure that fits the requirements of each customer’s application. EMW’s metal forming process also allows for the manufacturion of NEMA enclosures that meet close tolerances.

EMW is a full service metal fabricator offering a wide range of capabilities in the manufacture of NEMA enclosures or housings and a vast range of other products.

These capabilities include:

• CAD/CAM design and programming
• Water jet precision cutting with a 12'x12' working envelope and dual cutting heads
• MIG and TIG welding of all alloys (GMAW, FCAW, GTAW certified welders and welding to ASME Sec. IX & AWS D1.1 code)
• 12' press brakes up to 350 tons with CNC back gauging
• Saw, torch, and plasma cutting
• CNC precision shearing up to 12 ft. in 1/4" carbon steel, 3/8" aluminum and 3/16" stainless steel
• CNC punching up to 1/4" plate
• Rolling up to 1/4" x 8' long

We have finishing options (powder coat or wet paint) available when needed. Although we are not paint experts by trade or claim to be, we do offer coating/application services through outside sources. All coating will be at the customer's request and specification. To ensure that our customers receive the proper coatings for their applications, we require the customer's approval on their specifications prior to coating. EMW does not make coating recommendations for any application. Essentially, you tell us the kind of coating or finish you need or prefer and we will make sure that coating or finish is applied properly.
