Motorized Dampers

Economy Metal Works can provide a full range of custom fabricated dampers, including motorized dampers, formed precisely to fit your specific requirements, delivered in a timely fashion and at a competitive price, and manufactured to a matchless standard of quality. Use our RFQ form at any time to find out how our array of flexible fabricating services can be applied to your motorize>d dampers project to satisfy the special requirements applicable to your motorized dampers.

Industries we have fabricated motorized dampers for include the petrochemical, power generation and construction industries. Diversification is a word that defines us here at EMW and we stand eager to meet your particular and special need for custom fabricated motorized dampers.

What are Motorized Dampers?

At the most basic level, a damper is an adjustable plate, or assembly of plates (also called blades), used to control or to alternately block and allow a draft or an airflow. Motorized dampers are dampers whose blades are opened, closed or adjusted to an intermediate position through the application of power from a motor. One common application of motorized dampers is in a zoned air conditioning system. The motorized dampers, positioned in ducts leading to each zone, would be controlled electronically. By alternately closing or opening a given motorized damper, or by leaving a damper in an intermediate position, different zones could be maintained at distinct selected temperatures. Motorized dampers are also necessary in applications where flows of combustible or otherwise dangerous gases need to opened and closed automatically based on signals from detection equipment. Or, dampers may be selected to be motorized for ease of operation.

Motorized dampers are often spring controlled. The dampers may be designed to be “normally open,” in which case power is applied from the motor to close the damper, which can then spring open when the power is removed. Or vice-versa—if the motorized dampers are designed to be “normally closed,” the power is applied to open it, and when the power is turned off, the damper springs to a closed position.

EMW’s expertise and capabilities as a full service custom precision metal fabricator allow us to form and fabricate motorized dampers in a large range of sizes and shapes, and in materials including mild steel, galvanized, aluminum or stainless steel.

Motorized DampersCustom Motorized Dampers Fabrication Services

EMW has the ability to fabricate a unique and custom damper, whether motorized or of another type, for your application. We excel at both prototyping and production runs. We fabricate motorized dampers and all other products to each customer’s special requirements.

Formed to Fit Your Requirements

Our dampers are created through a metal forming process (not through a metal extrusion process), which gives us the flexibility required to fabricate a unique damper product that fits the requirements of each customer’s application. EMW’s metal forming process also allows for the fabrication of a damper that meets close tolerances.

Our Motorized Dampers capabilities include:

  • CAD/CAM Design and Programming
  • CNC precision shearing up to 12 ft. in 1/4" carbon steel, 3/8" aluminum, 3/16 stainless steel
  • CNC punching up to 1/4" plate
  • 12ft. press brakes up to 350 ton with CNC back gauging
  • Saw, torch, and plasma cutting
  • Mig and tig welding all alloys
  • Rolling up to 1/8" x 5ft. long
  • Structural Fabrication (Skids, enclosures, rails, ladders, stairs, stands and more)
  • Water Jet precision cutting with a 12ft.x12ft working envelope

We have finishing options (powder coat or wet paint) available when needed. Although we are not paint experts by trade or claim to be, we do offer coating/application services through outside sources. All coating will be at the customer's request and specification. In order that the customer receives the proper coating for their exact application all specifications must come from and be approved by the customer prior to coating. EMW does not make coating recommendations for any application. Essentially, you tell us the kind of coating or finish you need or prefer and we will make sure that coating or finish is applied properly.

A variety of finishing options are available when needed.

Whether you have CAD drawings ready or just some verbal instructions to provide, you can be confident that EMW has the experience, know-how and determination to follow-through on your project and fabricate a custom motorized damper that will fit your application.
