Mild steel can be a more economical choice for the manufacture of your louver, both because of its lower price as a material and the greater ease of fabricating in mild steel. Another advantage of mild carbon steel is its ability to withstand stress and flexing without fracturing, which may be a factor in certain applications. On the other hand, mild steel will require regular maintenance to prevent corrosion and extend its life.
Mild Carbon Steel Louver Types
While your louver can be custom manufactured to fit your requirements, here are some general and standard kinds of louvers that EMW can manufacture:
- Carbon Steel Architectural / Decorative Louvers: Sometimes functional, sometimes just for looks, EMW can make them in just about any shape or size.
- Carbon Steel Gable Louvers: For venting and exhaust of attic spaces, or for appearances, EMW can custom manufacture your gable louvers.
- Carbon Steel Stamped Louvers: For ventilation of an enclosure, door or anything else, EMW can supply custom stamped louvers in almost any configuration or size.
- Heavy Duty Carbon Steel Louvers: For tough environments, like oil rigs on the open sea, EMW has the expertise and experience to manufacture heavy duty louvers for the job.

EMW’s custom precision metal fabrication capabilities make us particularly well suited to manufacture stainless and carbon steel louvers that perfectly fit and complement the environment in which they will be used. Just about any size and shape of louver is within our capacity to manufacture.
We can also manufacture our louvers, like all of our products, in aluminum and in galvanized steel. A variety of finishing options are also available if needed.
Carbon Steel Louvers Formed to Fit Your Requirements
Our louvers are created through a metal forming process (not through a metal extrusion process), which gives us the flexibility required to manufacture a unique louver product that fits the requirements of each customer’s application. EMW’s metal forming process also allows for the manufacture of carbon steel louvers that meet close tolerances.
EMW is a full service metal fabricator offering a wide range of capabilities in the manufacture of louvers and a vast range of other products. These capabilities include:
- CNC precision shearing up to 12 ft. in 1/4" carbon steel, 3/8" aluminum, and 3/16 stainless steel
- CAD/CAM design and programming
- Saw, torch, and plasma cutting
- CNC punching up to 1/4" plate
- MIG and TIG welding all alloys
- Rolling up to 1/8" x 5ft. long
- 12ft. press brakes up to 350 ton with CNC back gauging
- Structural fabrication, including skids, enclosures, rails, ladders, stairs, stands and more
- Precision waterjet cutting with a 12'x12' working envelope
We have finishing options (powder coat or wet paint) available when needed. Although we are not paint experts by trade or claim to be, we do offer coating/application services through outside sources. All coating will be at the customer's request and specification. In order that the customer receives the proper coating for their exact application all specifications must come from and be approved by the customer prior to coating. EMW does not make coating recommendations for any application. Essentially, you tell us the kind of coating or finish you need or prefer and we will make sure that coating or finish is applied properly.
