What Are Decorative / Architectural Louvers?
Generally speaking, decorative louvers are designed for appearance, and are not functional as air passageways. Most decorative louvers therefore have closed slats and do not permit ventilation. (However, form as well as functionality can be combined if desired with custom designed and manufactured architectural / decorative louvers from EMW.)
Architectural or decorative louvers can be used to disguise or obscure irregularities or equipment that doesn’t need to be seen. However, often architectural louvers are used simply to enhance the appearance of a building’s exterior or enliven large interior walls. They are a great example of how the functional can become a form of art, and as mentioned, EMW can custom manufacture architectural / decorative louvers either with or without functional open ventilation slats.
Architectural and decorative louvers are often designed in pleasing shapes such as triangular, octagonal, round, oval, half-round or half-oval, cathedral or eyebrow.
EMW’s custom precision metal fabrication capabilities make us particularly well suited to manufacture architectural / decorative louvers that perfectly fit and complement the environment in which they will be used. We can manufacture architectural / decorative louvers, like all of our products, in mild carbon steel, 304 & 316 stainless steel, galvanized and aluminum (3000, 5000 and 6000 series aluminum). A variety of finishing options are available.
Decorative / Architectural Louvers Formed to Fit Your Requirements
Our architectural and decorative louvers are created through a metal forming process (not through a metal extrusion process), which gives us the flexibility required to manufacture a unique louver product that fits the requirements of each customer’s application. EMW’s metal forming process also allows for the manufacture of an architectural/decorative louver that meets close tolerances.
EMW is a full service metal fabricator offering a wide range of capabilities in the manufacture of decorative / architectural louvers and a vast range of other products. These capabilities include:
- CAD/CAM Design and Programming
- CNC precision shearing up to 12 ft. in 1/4" carbon steel, 3/8" aluminum, and 3/16 stainless steel
- CNC punching up to 1/4" plate
- 12ft. press brakes up to 350 ton with CNC back gauging
- Saw, torch, and plasma cutting
- MIG and TIG welding all alloys
- Rolling up to 1/4" x 8 ft. long, and 3/8" x 6 ft. long
- Structural fabrication (Skids, enclosures, rails, ladders, stairs, stands and more)
- Waterjet precision cutting with a 12ft.x12ft working envelope
We have finishing options (powder coat or wet paint) available when needed. Although we are not paint experts by trade or claim to be, we do offer coating/application services through outside sources. All coating will be at the customer's request and specification. In order that the customer receives the proper coating for their exact application all specifications must come from and be approved by the customer prior to coating. EMW does not make coating recommendations for any application. Essentially, you tell us the kind of coating or finish you need or prefer and we will make sure that coating or finish is applied properly.
