Gable louvers are one of the wide varieties products that Economy Metal Works (a custom precision metal fabricator) commonly produces for a range of customers in the construction, petrochemical, power generation and other industries. What Are Gable Louvers?

A building’s gable is the triangular portion of the endwall, from the level of the eave to the ridge of the roof; i.e. the space between the two slopes of the roof.

A louver is an assembly of slanted blades (also known as plates or fins) designed to permit a flow of air while deflecting such things as objects, dirt, or wind-driven water. Gable louvers are simply louvers, which are sized and shaped to be installed in the gables end of a building.

The purpose of a gable louver (sometimes called a gable vent) is usually functional: to provide ventilation, generally to the attic space of a house. The higher gable louvers are placed, the more effective it will be for the purpose of exhaust. Sometimes gable louvers are used in conjunction with fans, which are in turn controlled by thermostats, allowing attics to be vented when the temperature reaches a pre-selected level.

However, with other means of attic ventilation being employed these days, sometimes gable louvers are installed purely for decoration. EMW’s custom fabrication capabilities allow us to manufacture gable louvers, which are either functional (with open slats) or exclusively decorative (with closed slats). EMW can custom manufacture gable louvers in just about any size or shape, to fit and complement just about any facade.

Louvers Formed to Fit Your Requirements

Our gable louvers are created through a metal forming process (not through a metal extrusion process), which gives us the flexibility required to manufacture a unique louver product that fits the requirements of each customer’s application. EMW’s metal forming process also allows for the manufacture of gable louvers that meets close tolerances.

EMW is a full service metal fabricator offering a wide range of capabilities in the manufacture of gable louvers and a vast range of other products. These capabilities include:

• MIG and TIG welding of all alloys (GMAW, FCAW, GTAW certified welders and welding to ASME Sec. IX & AWS D1.1 code)
• Water jet precision cutting with a 12'x12' working envelope and dual cutting heads
• CAD/CAM design and programming
• 12' press brakes up to 350 tons with CNC back gauging
• CNC punching up to 1/4" plate
• CNC precision shearing up to 12 ft. in 1/4" carbon steel, 3/8" aluminum and 3/16" stainless steel
• Saw, torch, and plasma cutting
• Rolling up to 1/4" x 8' long

We have finishing options (powder coat or wet paint) available when needed. Although we are not paint experts by trade or claim to be, we do offer coating/application services through outside sources. All coating will be at the customer's request and specification. To ensure that our customers receive the proper coatings for their applications, we require the customer's approval on their specifications prior to coating. EMW does not make coating recommendations for any application. Essentially, you tell us the kind of coating or finish you need or prefer and we will make sure that coating or finish is applied properly.
