Among the almost limitless range of products EMW can custom manufacture are dampers, and we have proven expertise in the manufacture of dampers in galvanized steel (as well as stainless steel, mild steel and aluminum) for a range of industries, including the petrochemical, construction and power generation industries.
Why Galvanized Dampers?
Steel Galvanized dampers are an economical and effective choice for many applications. Steel which has been coated with zinc in the galvanizing process is corrosion resistant and should remain rust free for decades. Galvanized dampers therefore will not require the same maintenance as regular steel components.
In particular, galvanized dampers have excellent weather resistance, making it suitable for exterior exposure. The zinc alloy coating on galvanized steel is also both abrasion and impact resistant, and harder than the base steel. Galvanized dampers are stronger than their aluminum counterparts.
On the other hand, galvanized steel, while resistant to oxidation for many years, will ultimately rust over time, which might be a factor in your application. The particular conditions in which the galvanized dampers will operate can be considered.
EMW is a full service metal fabricator offering a wide range of capabilities in the manufacture of galvanized dampers and other products. These capabilities include:
- CAD/CAM Design and Programming
- CNC precision shearing up to 12 ft. in 1/4" carbon steel, 3/8" aluminum, 3/16 stainless steel
- CNC punching up to 1/4" plate
- 12ft. press brakes up to 350 ton with CNC back gauging
- Saw, torch, and plasma cutting
- Mig and tig welding all alloys
- Rolling up to 1/8" x 5ft. long
- Structural Fabrication (Skids, enclosures, rails, ladders, stairs, stands and more)
- Water Jet precision cutting with a 12ft.x12ft working envelope
A variety of finishing options are available.
We have finishing options (powder coat or wet paint) available when needed. Although we are not paint experts by trade or claim to be, we do offer coating/application services through outside sources. All coating will be at the customer's request and specification. In order that the customer receives the proper coating for their exact application all specifications must come from and be approved by the customer prior to coating. EMW does not make coating recommendations for any application. Essentially, you tell us the kind of coating or finish you need or prefer and we will make sure that coating or finish is applied properly.
Types of Galvanized Dampers
Diversification and custom fabrication make up our standard operating procedure here at EMW, so the following list is merely a summary of some of the standard types of galvanized dampers we can produce:
- Steel Backdraft Galvanized Dampers: Backdraft dampers only permit air to flow in one direction in a duct or airway. They are commonly used to prevent outside air from entering a building through an exhaust duct.
- Steel Manually Operated Galvanized Dampers: Manually operated dampers are simply dampers, which are set by hand, as by the operation of a handle that sits outside the duct that the damper controls.
- Steel Motorized Galvanized Dampers: In motorized dampers, the plates or flaps, which control, block or allow the draft or airflow are actuated by motors. These motors are often linked to thermostats, for instance in zone controlled air conditioning systems.
- Steel Heavy Duty Galvanized Dampers: Heavy-duty dampers are similar to standard duty dampers, except they are formed with special reinforcement to provide greater rigidity and strength. They may be needed for applications where especially high airflow velocities are involved.
Steel Galvanized Dampers Formed to Fit Your Requirements
Our galvanized dampers are created through a metal forming process (not through a metal extrusion process), which gives us the flexibility required to manufacture a unique galvanized steel damper product that fits the requirements of each customer’s application. EMW’s metal forming process also allows for the manufacture of a damper that meets close tolerances.
Whether you have CAD drawings ready or just verbal instructions to provide, you can be confident that EMW has the experience, know-how and determination to follow-through on your project and manufacture a custom galvanized dampers that will fit your application.
