Why Aluminum Louvers?
The major advantages of fabricating aluminum louvers are aluminum’s low cost and ease of maintenance. Aluminum louvers will be light and durable and yet with aluminum’s high strength to weight ratio they will still offer sufficient strength for many applications. On average, an aluminum louver is lighter by as much as two thirds compared to a counterpart in steel or stainless steel.
Aluminum louvers will not rust.
Aluminum is however, less strong than steel and so might not be selected for some heavy-duty applications. In high temperatures, aluminum expands twice as much as steel and this may be also be a factor in deciding which material should be used for your louver depending on your particular application.
Aluminum alloys used by EMW include the 3000 series (Al-Mn, on the softer side and with good corrosion resistance), the 5000 series (Al-Mg, higher strength) and the 6000 series (Al-Mg-Si, heat treatable with good properties of both strength and corrosion resistance).
Types of Aluminum Louvers
While your aluminum louver can be custom fabricated to fit your requirements, here are some general and standard kinds of louvers that EMW can fabricate:
- Architectural / Decorative Aluminum Louvers: Sometimes functional, sometimes just for looks, EMW can make them in just about any shape or size.
- Gable Aluminum Louvers: For venting and exhaust of attic spaces, or for appearances, EMW can custom fabricate your gable louvers.
- Stamped Aluminum Louvers: For ventilation of an enclosure, door or anything else, EMW can supply custom stamped louvers in almost any configuration or size.
- Heavy Duty Aluminum Louvers: For tough environments, like oil rigs on the open sea, EMW has the expertise and experience to fabricate heavy duty louvers for the job. Aluminum may not be recommended as the metal of choice in this case depending on the specifics of the application.

EMW’s custom precision metal fabrication capabilities make us particularly well suited to manufacture aluminum louvers that perfectly fit and complement the environment in which they will be used. Just about any size and shape of louver is within our capacity to fabricate.
We can also fabricate our louvers, like all of our products, in mild carbon steel, stainless steel (304 and 316), galvanized. A variety of finishing options are available when needed.
Aluminum Louvers Formed to Fit Your Requirements
Our aluminum louvers are created through a metal forming process (not through a metal extrusion process), which gives us the flexibility required to fabricate a unique louver product that fits the requirements of each customer’s application. EMW’s metal forming process also allows for the fabrication of aluminum louvers that meet close tolerances.

We have finishing options (powder coat or wet paint) available when needed. Although we are not paint experts by trade or claim to be, we do offer coating/application services through outside sources. All coating will be at the customer's request and specification. In order that the customer receives the proper coating for their exact application all specifications must come from and be approved by the customer prior to coating. EMW does not make coating recommendations for any application. Essentially, you tell us the kind of coating or finish you need or prefer and we will make sure that coating or finish is applied properly.
