Manufacturing in Aluminum

Aluminum has a number of characteristics that make it highly useful in a range of applications. Since it doesn’t rust, it is frequently used in offshore applications. In addition, it has a high strength-to-weight ratio: on average, products manufactured from aluminum are up to 60% lighter than a comparable product manufactured from steel or stainless steel. It’s also fairly inexpensive and easy to maintain.

However, aluminum doesn’t have the same level of strength as steel, so as a result it isn’t necessarily the best choice for some heavy-duty applications. In addition, aluminum expands twice as much as steel at higher temperatures. These may be factors in deciding whether aluminum is the right choice for your particular application. If aluminum isn’t a good choice, we also provide custom sheet metal fabrication services in mild carbon steel, stainless steel and galvanized steel.

EMW is highly experienced in custom fabrication of 3000, 5000 and 6000 aluminum. We bring a complete array of capabilities in aluminum fabrication, including:

• CNC precision shearing up to 12 ft. in 1/4" carbon steel, 3/8" aluminum and 3/16" stainless steel
• Water jet precision cutting with a 12'x12' working envelope and dual cutting heads
• CAD/CAM design and programming
• 12' press brakes up to 350 tons with CNC back gauging
• Saw, torch, and plasma cutting
• MIG and TIG welding of all alloys (GMAW, FCAW, GTAW certified welders and welding to ASME Sec. IX & AWS D1.1 code)
• Rolling up to 1/4" x 8' long
• CNC punching up to 1/4" plate

If needed, coating and finishing options are available. While we don’t provide these services in-house, we have standing relationships with highly experienced coating and painting providers. We will see that the coating you need is applied to your precise requirements.
